  • Carnelian is a brownish-red to orange variety of chalcedony, a translucent to opaque form of quartz that occurs in shades of red, orange, brown, and pink. Its warm coloration is created by trace amounts of iron oxide within the stone. Crystallizing in the trigonal system, this Carnelian is mined in Brazil.
