  • Amazonite is a green to blue green feldspar stone found in Brazil, Russia, and Colorado whose name comes from the coloration similarities of the Amazon River. 
  • Historically, amazonite’s green hue was attributed to copper impurities, but modern research indicates its color comes from trace amounts of lead within the crystal structure. Amazonite displays schiller, which is a lustrous reflection from planes in a mineral grain and is similar to what is more commonly known as iridescence.
