Chrysoprase Hippo

I’m not usually a green person.

At least not most greens.

This one is different.

The soft minty color of this Chrysoprase immediately caught my attention. It’s calming, peaceful, and somehow manages to feel both vibrant and gentle at the same time.

The first thing I noticed wasn’t even the carving.

It was the color.

Chrysoprase is already a material I don’t come across very often, which makes finding a beautifully carved piece like this even more special.

And then, of course, there’s the hippo.

The chunky little legs.

The wrinkles.

The expression.

The overall sweetness of the carving.

It’s hard not to smile when you look at him.

For me, though, this piece was always about that beautiful mint green color. Every time I picked it up, it felt fresh, peaceful, and just plain happy.

Metaphysically, Chrysoprase has long been associated with personal growth, self acceptance, emotional healing, and breaking habits or patterns that no longer serve us. It is often connected to learning to be kinder to ourselves and moving forward with a little more grace and compassion.

Honestly, as a pregnant woman currently eating popsicles while writing crystal descriptions, this is exactly why I resonate with Chrysoprase so much. There is something about this stone that feels gentle, encouraging, and supportive without being overwhelming.
