Baba Yagas House | Tree Agate A

If you grew up in a Slavic family, there is a very good chance you already know exactly who lives here. 😂

When I was a kid, my parents would tell me that if I was bad, they were going to take me into the woods and drop me off at Baba Yaga’s house. So needless to say, this particular little house has been living rent free in my imagination for most of my life.

But Baba Yaga’s house is one of the most magical and fascinating parts of her folklore.

Deep within the forest stands her famous house on chicken legs, right at the threshold between the familiar world and whatever might exist beyond it. In the old tales, you don’t simply walk up and open the front door. The house can turn, concealing its entrance from the traveler until it is commanded to turn and face them. Only then can the journey continue.

There’s something I absolutely love about the idea of an enchanted house that decides whether you’re even going to find its front door. 😂

And then, of course, there’s Baba Yaga herself. Depending on the story, she can be frightening, unpredictable, challenging and sometimes even helpful, which honestly sounds dangerously close to a Sagittarius dating profile. 😂

We had this house custom carved from Tree Agate, which feels almost too perfect for a legendary little house hidden deep within an enchanted forest. From the house itself to those unmistakable chicken legs, it feels like a tiny piece of old Slavic folklore somehow wandered out of the forest and into our world.
