The color on this piece is ridiculous.
The second I saw it, I was done.
This is the kind of Amazonite that reminds you why the material became so popular in the first place. The vibrant blue-green color almost doesn’t look real.
And then somebody carved it into a hippo.
The carving itself is adorable, but for me this piece was always about the material. The color is bright, cheerful, and full of life. Every time I pick it up, it makes me happy.
There is something about Amazonite that feels fresh and uplifting, and this little hippo captures that perfectly.
Honestly, this is one of those carvings that doesn’t need a complicated story.
It’s a hippo.
It’s adorable.
And the color is absolutely incredible.
