It is the collector name given to this very specific Fluorite from the Xia Yang Mine in Fujian, China because of its incredible coloring. In different lighting these crystals can move between this rich grape purple and a more blue purple color that looks so much like Tanzanite, which is where the name came from.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBut THIS specimen.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere are Fluorite crystals absolutely everywhere. Huge crystals, tiny crystals, clusters growing over clusters, and then these gorgeous little pockets and openings in the matrix where you can look inside and find even more crystals tucked away. You can literally keep turning it around and finding something else.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd the color is INSANE.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis material came out of China around 2017, and the really beautiful collector quality specimens have become increasingly difficult to source. Some documented examples from this locality specifically note that the material came out during that find and has not come out again since.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI have had this one tucked away because when Tanzanite Fluorite is GOOD, it is spectacular, and finding a huge display specimen covered in this many beautiful crystals is not something I come across very often.
